It was MTD’s first experience at MD&M Florida tradeshow and we really enjoyed how regional the show was. Our team had great conversation with many Florida-based medical device firms about their micro projects.

Brian Matachun, Director of Sales, delivered a presentation on Day 1 entitled Challenges & Emerging Solutions through Micro Molding. Micro Molding is an emerging field within the vast medical market today. MTD has positioned itself over 43 years as a global leader in micro-tool fabrication and molding. The presentation provided a broad overview of everyday challenges designers face when selecting a vendor due to Part Design, Material Selection, Tooling Designs, Molding practices, and Metrology. Emerging markets where micro molding is taking the industry to the next level were reviewed with the intention to add new tools to the audience’s toolboxes.

Along with a wide variety of micro-part examples on display, MTD showed some tooling components that showed how a perfect micromolded part starts with precision tooling. MTD displayed inserts from the Smallest Part in the World, tiny .002″ core pins, and two sets of inserts clearly showing the difference between conventional EDM milling technology and Sarix 3D micro-EDM technology.
